Productivity and I have always had a rocky relationship. Some days are great, but most days are bad. I’ve always felt if I could even just tip the scale to 50/50, my life would be completely different.
I’ve tried a lot of the productivity suggestions out there that most of us know about (Pomodoro, GTD, etc.), but I’ve never been good at those.
Thus, this blog. I figure if I hold myself personally responsible in public (although I don’t have any readers, this is public enough for me), I will force myself to keep trying new things until I find a system that works for me.
I think the biggest hurdle to most productivity advice for me is that I don’t have a conventional life. I started a business out of college and have been doing it ever since. Most of my days (and my finances) are 100% up to me and the effort I put in.
There’s no boss telling me what to do, I have a lot of flexibility, and also a lot of opportunities to mess around and do whatever I want. It’s both a blessing and a curse. However, that’s why I can’t relate to a lot of the traditional advice because most of it is for the usual 9-to-5 life.
Even hearing things like, “Just delegate the tasks you don’t want to do.” Well, that’s great when you have someone below you that you can pawn it off on. Most of us are not in that position.
This blog is about finding productivity in a creative life and how one can balance the two while still feeling like they’re on top of all the things they need to do.
For full transparency, it was when I looked at my desk that I realized things needed to change.

That was it. That was my final, “I’m getting my life together” moment.
I’m going to discover a system that works for me and hopefully help some other people find a system that works for them in the process.
